Natural gas is produced in other regions and transported to Indiana through interstate pipelines. From there, it moves into intrastate pipelines that deliver natural gas directly to homes and businesses. Gas utilities purchase gas from these pipelines and store it underground, this ensures both adequate supply and lower costs for customers during winter months.
